The History of Jersey Sub Aqua Club
The Jersey Sub Aqua Club was formed in June 1953 by a group of enthusiastic people who had been fired with the desire to explore the underwater world as a result of pioneers like Jaques Cousteau and Hans and Lotti Hass who had been instrumental in bringing underwater scenes to the television and the introduction of viable scuba equipment that could be purchased readily by anyone wishing to dive.
In the early days the club was mainly a spearfishing club with a 'lunging' section and although the club is totally scuba the spear fishing team was known nationally and internationally and won many events. At its peak, many of the team members free dived to 100 feet (30 metres) in search of prey and there is still some evidence of this period with photographs and old spear guns on display in the clubhouse to day.

We organise 'Try Dive' events at various times throughout the year.
We take students in a local warm swimming pool,
where you will be under the care of experienced scuba instructors
to take you into the water wearing full scuba equipment.
This is an ideal opportunity to have a go at this wonderful sport,
to see whether it could be your new hobby!!
Instructors instruct this lesson at your comfort level, so you will always feel comfortable, confident and assured you are in the best of hands.
Cost of these sessions are £20.00 per person.
