The club owns a 6 metre Humber RIB (ridged inflatable boat) with two 50 hp engines. It is the responsibility of the Boat Officer to keep the boat in top sea-worthy condition. The Dive Marshall is responsible for re-fuelling and re-oiling the boat, also the wash down and general putting away of the boat after each use. The maximum number of divers allowed on the boat for a dive is 6 with one non-diving boat handler. The boat can only be used with the permission of the Diving Officer, even for non-diving events such as guard boat duty for racing events.
To use the club boat you must satisfy the Diving Officers requirements of being a proficient boat handler, oxygen administrator, first aider and a VHF operator, along with a safe diving plan with divers who are comfortable to do the dive. For a boat dive to be sanctioned by the Diving Officer use the same procedure as a shore-dive, - by dive sheet or a phone call.
The boat is kept in the harbour property along side the clubhouse.
The Jersey Sub Aqua Club is and always will be committed to the highest possible diving safety standards with the training and normal diving geared to reduce or eliminate the chance of misfortune.
The membership vote in a Diving Officer who is of Advanced diver grade with a lot of diving experience to oversee all club diving activities. All club dives are posted on the club notice board three days before they happen and the diving officer will sanction them
The club does a wide variety of shore diving, and a wide variety of boat diving, from different wreck dives to fast drift dives, also trips to the different nearby islands and to France.
